The unused attic area of the residential and commercial building at Limmatquai 138 in the centre of Zurich is being converted and, as part of this project, its facades renovated in line with the principles of architectural preservation.
Most of the original roofing tiles can be re-used. The plumbing work has been carried out in copper. The new, centrally placed dormer has been plastered to look like the main building and has received the same treatment as the main facade in terms of colour. The original, bright yellow of the facade has been scaled down somewhat and matched to the colour of the stone walls and the existing, unchanged window shutters.
